I would say that a coordinate axis is the span of one of the basis vectors of a cooridinate system. For example, the x-axis is the span of the basis vector. Jpkotta 18:19, 15 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I was redirected here from Z order. Z-order is a GUI concept, and I have never heard of the term Z order in the context of coordinate systems. I think this redirect should go to the Z-order article instead. I'm not sure how to change the redirect, and I don't have time to figure it out at the moment.
